Nebraska Public Power District News Release

Mustang Country is now on the Web

Sumner, Neb. – The communities of Sumner, Eddyville and Miller, collectively known as Mustang Country, are now on the World Wide Web.

The new website went live April 21, and gives residents and visitors a place to find out important news and information about these three communities. A business directory, calendar of events, community news and contact information are just some of the highlights at

“Having the website up and running is important to our whole community,” said Mustang Country Marketing Committee chairperson Loye Wolfe. “We are very proud of our individual towns and farming community and it will allow people to get a snapshot of our communities.”

The Mustang Country community is located in Central Nebraska, just northwest of Kearney. Mustang Country Community Foundation was formed in 2005 to showcase the community and to promote economic development in the area. The new website will help promote the foundation and the three communities, which are primarily agriculturally based.

“We have great families, a good school that cares about individual students and a wealth of businesses and individual entrepreneurs that make all three towns unique,” said Wolfe, who also works as a Special Educator at S-E-M Schools. “The school district of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller spans an area of over 260 square miles … so in order for us to know one another within our towns and access people, services and activities, this website will be invaluable.”

As a wholesale provider of electricity for the communities, Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) assisted the marketing committee in the development of the site.

“We really want to thank the staff at NPPD,” Wolfe said. “They were very supportive of our concepts about this website.”

The website will be updated frequently and businesses, community groups or individuals that want to place information on it should e-mail or call 308-360-0626.

“We plan to make the website more and more interactive, a place residents can go to often for weather conditions, school announcements, special events – with times and dates that are important to the communities,” Wolfe added. “For visitors to our website, we hope that good data about the towns and contacts within the towns will allow for easily accessing businesses and housing prospects.”

Always there when you need us, NPPD’s mission is to safely generate and deliver low-cost reliable energy and provide outstanding customer service. Working in partnership with the state’s rural public power districts, cooperatives and municipalities, NPPD helps serve an estimated 1 million Nebraskans with retail or wholesale electrical power and energy-related products and services.
